Tinubu, Amosun, Others Honour Lam Adesina at 2nd Memorial Lecture in Ibadan
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the late former governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lamidi Onaolapo Adesina, as a steadfast believer in Nigeria’s promise — a man who envisioned a nation built on justice, equal opportunity, and dedicated service to the people.
The President, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the 2nd Lam Adesina Memorial Lecture Series held in Ibadan, was represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Mr. Sunday Dare.

In his message, President Tinubu praised Adesina’s legacy, describing him as a patriot who stood tall in the service of humanity.
“I hold his memory dear to my heart as he was not just a brother in the progressive struggle, but a believer in Nigeria’s promise,” Tinubu said.
He noted that politics could be noble when guided by principles, focus, and compassion, recalling that as Governor of Oyo State from 1999 to 2003, Lam Adesina served rather than ruled the people through visionary leadership and development-oriented governance.
Amosun Urges Parents to Prioritize Moral Education
Delivering the keynote lecture themed “Sustaining a Legacy of Effective Leadership in Nigeria”, former Ogun State Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun emphasized the need for moral upbringing and education among youths.
He urged parents and guardians to instill values that promote responsibility and discipline, noting that such efforts would help nurture responsive and impactful leaders for the nation’s future.
Amosun also called for the resuscitation of history in Nigeria’s school curriculum, stressing that understanding the country’s past heroes like Lam Adesina would inspire today’s youth to embrace patriotism and selfless service.
