Suspected herdsmen hijack fully loaded vehicle

Panic has gripped residents of Benue State after suspected herdsmen launched a deadly late-night attack on a commercial vehicle along the Otukpo-Adoka highway, killing the driver and abducting all passengers on board.

The terrifying incident reportedly happened around 11 p.m. on Sunday night as the vehicle was returning from Abuja to Otukpo.

According to eyewitnesses, the armed men emerged from the bushes and opened fire without warning. One of the bullets hit the driver, causing him to lose control and crash into the nearby forest. The attackers then rounded up the helpless passengers and whisked them away, leaving the vehicle behind.

The driver, who was sadly confirmed dead on the spot, has been identified as a native of Adoka. His body has since been recovered and taken back to his community.

Meanwhile, military operatives have stormed the area and launched a full-scale manhunt for the gunmen. Tension remains high as locals demand answers and increased security presence on the route.

This latest attack adds to the growing insecurity in parts of Benue, with many now afraid to travel after dark.
